Dr. Suzanne Eckert, Head of Collections
Suzanne Eckert is an archaeologist specializing in the Ancestral Pueblo peoples of the American Southwest. She received her BA from the University of California at Santa Cruz (yes, the one with no grades and the banana slug for a mascot). She received her MA and PhD at Arizona State University. After 9 years as a professor at Texas A&M, she enthusiastically was appointed to her dream job — head of collections at the Arizona State Museum. The majority of her research focuses on ethnicity, gender, and religion just prior to, and after, European contact. To get at these types of social issues, she mainly studies pottery.
